The Benefits Of Staying All Inclusive

Monday, July 26th, 2010

The question of whether to go on an all-inclusive vacation or pay-per event is one that inevitably comes up in the minds of anyone who has spent time perusing their choices online. On the one hand, it is comforting to know the complete cost of your vacation before it begins and on the other, wouldn’t it be preferable to pick and choose your delights on a whim? Well the best way to know for sure is to closely examine what types of activities and services are offered, as all-inclusive is a fairly nebulous description. Does “all-inclusive” truly mean everything? Generally it does not. What it does mean, though, is that there is a package of sorts involved. In that package you may find a variety of services, food and drink, entertainment, transportation, luxuries, spas, sports, games and crafts available for your leisure.

The first consideration is the room you’ll be staying in. How large is it? How many beds does it have? Does it include a refrigerator, mini-bar, kitchen or Jacuzzi? Most of these features are considered extra and therefore factor into the value of the all-inclusive package you’re looking at. Also, make sure to find out if room service is available and when. Some services are available 24 hours and others not at all.

The next consideration is your food — sustenance for you and your family. What meals are being offered? What size? How many portions and how many people per service? Does this include room service and/or restaurant sittings? What level of dining are you going to be treated to — fast food or 5-star dining? Is the gratuity included in the meals and services? The more of these details that are present in your package, again, will increase the value of your stay. While most resorts are fairly generous, all-inclusive does not necessarily mean full-quality inclusive.

Another important factor is whether the hotel or resort offers transportation as one of their features. Once you arrive at the airport with your luggage, the last thing you want to find out is that you’re responsible for finding your own way there — at least, not if you were expecting otherwise. Transportation to and from local attractions is another consideration. If the hotel offers tickets for a local Broadway show, offering suitable transport to and from may be expected but not necessarily included. Perhaps a car rental is included in the package or maybe they offer a chauffeur or people carrier – these are important details to know.

Finally, entertainments can offer considerable value to any resort destination. Having access to a crafts-room, or tennis court and/or swimming pool may be something to consider. Are tickets to local sporting events, arts, museums or performances part of the package? Unless your vacation has a specific goal of sights to be seen or attractions to experience, the diversions offered in the package can be the difference between a nominal stay at a reasonable hotel, and a phenomenal getaway at a luxurious palace!

At an all-inclusive resort, accommodations, meals, soft drinks, gratuities, recreational activities, entertainment and most alcoholic drinks are included in the daily rate. Many offer a selection of sports and other activities included in the price. They are often located in warmer regions. The all-inclusive model originated in the Club Med resorts which were founded by the Belgian Grard Blitz. Some all-inclusive resorts are designed for specific vacation interests. For example, certain resorts cater to adults, while even more specialized properties accept couples only. Other all-inclusive resorts are geared toward families, with facilities like craft centers, game rooms and water parks to keep children of all ages entertained.

Knowing what is typically included and what is actually included may make all the difference when it comes to making this choice. There certainly are a lot of benefits to reap from these packages as not only are your needs well considered beforehand; they are being met before you realize you need them. As these packages are very popular, they tend to be well-organized, presenting an itinerary for you so that there is even one less thing to worry about. With some careful planning and forethought, the all-inclusive package of your choice may be the most perfect and worry-free vacation for you and your family this year.

Resorts Or Hotels – Be More Secure On Holidays And Vacations

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Whether people take an air flight or drive when they travel on their vacations and holidays, they usually stay at a hotel or a resort. What they may not be aware of is that their vacation could be ruined by a professional thief that makes his or her living by targeting an unsuspecting tourist. These thieves tend to hang around hotels and resorts, usually in the lobbies, looking for tourists on vacation or holiday who appear to be easy pickings.

Here are a number pertinent travel tips that may help you be more secure in your hotel room when you travel on a vacation or a business trip.

First of all, the lobbies of hotels and resorts should never be considered secure, even in the five star ones. People on vacation may be easy pickings for opportunistic thieves, especially at peak times when the hotel reception staff are busy with new guests arriving and other guests that are trying to check out. Never leave your travel luggage, even for a minute, unless you know for sure that it’s being looked after by a bellman.

If you are having a bit to eat in a hotel restaurant when on holiday, particularly a buffet, never leave your briefcase, laptop, or handbag unguarded to get a drink or something more to eat. It takes thieves only a second to make off with them. It would be impossible for the hotel staff to be constantly on the lookout for these criminals.

When booking your hotel room, it is best to book one that is on the second, third, fourth, or fifth floor, as ground floor rooms are more susceptible to break ins. Keep in mind that hotel rooms above the fifth floor may not be accessible by many fire engine ladders if a fire happens to break out in the hotel.

Be sure to check and make sure that the door to your room locks properly, and that the windows and sliding doors open, but also lock securely. Most hotels resorts use electronic card keys for their hotel room doors as they offer better security than the standard metal keys. Don’t carry your key card in its folder if the folder has the room number on it. Make note of your room number on a piece of paper, keep it on your person when you go out, and leave the folder in your room.

Always identify unexpected staff or visitors to your room before opening the hotel door. Call the front desk if you are in doubt as to the authenticity of that person. It’s advisable to not give out your room number to anybody that you don’t know and trust.

It may not be a good idea to hang a “clean the room” sign on the door knob when you go out, as that signals to a would be thief that there’s probably no one in the room.

Never assume that your hotel room door has locked just because it closes automatically when you go out. Try the door knob just to make sure that it has actually locked. If your room has a balcony, make sure the sliding glass door is also locked as it could be possible for somebody to climb on to your balcony from a that is balcony beside, above or below yours.

Never leave any valuables lying around in plain view in your hotel room. They may be too tempting for some cleaning staff to resist. Place all small valuables in your room safe if there is one. Keep in mind that the safes that use metal keys are not as secure as the ones that use electronic key cards.

The next best bet if there is no safe in your hotel room is to lock your small valuables in your largest suitcase when you go out. Locked, hard-sided travel luggage offers you best security. Some travelers even use duct tape to secure small valuables to the underside of the room furniture.

Always use your door’s deadbolt including the chain lock at night before you go to bed or if you feel like taking a nap.

There is a very small, inexpensive, battery-operated, motion-sensitive, burglar alarm that can be hung on the inside hotel door knob, or there is a wedge-shaped alarm that you can shove under the door that accomplishes the same thing. If someone tries to open your door, the alarm will ring.

There are two less sophisticated methods you can use. You could move a chair in front of the hotel door and place the back rest under the knob, or wedge a standard rubber door stopper under the door. Both of these two methods are also effective.

When you pack and get ready to check out of your hotel or resort, remember to empty your room safe. And last but not least, count the pieces of luggage you brought with you and make sure that everything has been put in your taxi.

The most important thing to remember is to always be vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times when travel on holidays.

Mexico Vacation Packages and Honeymoons at Its Best

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009
by Kris Carrington

Are you planning on taking a honeymoon or vacation getaway with your spouse? Do not forget to meet up with a travel agent and choose the best Mexico vacation packages and honeymoons that he or she can offer.

There are a couple of ways to go about finding clean resorts to stay in for reasonable prices when you are in Mexico. The first thing to consider is talking with a travel agent who is helping you with the Mexico vacation Packages or Mexico Honeymoons you are looking over.

You must inquire after the conditions of the beach resorts that are featured in the packages presented by your travel agent. Make sure that they are nice, clean and not very much crowded. You can opt to stay in a hotel or beach resort in either Mexico honeymoons or Mexico vacation packages but make sure that conditions are well and good. The travel agents that promote this package are well aware and familiar of these so they are the best ones to consult about accommodations.

The travel agents with packages will provide you different choices of suitable living arrangements according to your specific purpose for travelling to Mexico. If you are aware of family members or friends in Mexico, you might want to stay with them. They will be the best people to give you directions on what package to choose. They will share with you their own experiences in Mexico and point out to you the best sites to visit with affordable or reasonable rates.

When choosing a Mexico vacation or honeymoon package, do not just settle with the prices presented. Do some bargaining.. Your agent would appreciate you if you presented a fair bargain for additional amenities on the package you prefer. Your trip will be more exciting and enjoyable if you have bargained well on your travel itinerary. You will also have the chance to get freebies and complimentary services.

This is also the rule when shopping in Mexico. In this country, bargaining is a way of life. The prices of the items would not depend on what’s given by the seller or what you offered. It would all depend on how you got along and understood the fairness of each offer, then on coming to an amiable agreement.

Another remarkable tourist spot in Mexico is the Aztec and Mayan. These places are beautiful but some of them are quite difficult to get to. The weather in the place is tropical but it changes to cooler mountain regions.

Remarkable and historical tourist spots that you should not pass up are the ancient Aztec and Mayan sites. These are breathtaking places although they could be quite difficult to reach. The Mexican weather is tropical, but its mountain regions are a lot cooler. Getting around Mexico is easier by bus transport. Make sure that you have done all you dream of doing for a memorable and pleasurable vacation or honeymoon!
