It seems like no matter where you go in the world every bedroom will have the same basic ensemble. Which is a mattress, two pillows, pillow causes, sheets, and of course a comforter. This is true in the United States, Europe, India, and even Japan where it is custom to sleep on the floor. So, if duvet cover sets are not found in the average home why is it that we need them.
Protection is key for extending the life of a down comforter. Most down comforters recommend you wash them every 3-5 years. It is recommended that you air them out and fluff them daily. But how do you follow that recommendation if you enjoy your bed and the warmth of your comforter daily. A cover keeps the dust, dirt, and impurities away from your down comforter and keeps possible prickly down feathers or allergens away from you.
Duvet covers work allot like pillow cases where as your pillow case goes over your pillow to protect it from getting dirty, ripped, torn or otherwise damaged your duvet goes over your comforter to accomplish the same goal.
Whichever one you chose, it is a whole lot easier and cheaper to wash a thin comforter cover over the big and bulky down comforter itself. Sometimes if you do not dry your down comforter correctly you could shorten its life span.
You should also check the thread count of the cover. When you see the term ‘thread count’ or ‘TC’ in the product’s label, this means the number of thread per square inch. Some covers have a 100 TC while others can have more than 1000 TC. If you want a really soft cover for your bedding, something that is very comfortable, you should choose a higher TC. The higher the TC, the softer the cover will be. If you want a good quality cover, a 300 TC is okay.
A duvet cover just makes sense if you are going to spend the money on a nice year round down comforter. Protect that investment and maintain a fresh feeling by washing the duvet cover, not the comforter, from those daily impurities.
There is nothing better than coming home after a hard days work and relaxing on a beautiful bed set by le vele. The beautiful vibrant colors mixed with the silk threading makes for a bed that welcomes you with arms wide open.
