Samsung LN37B550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

by Mike Manster

Introduction Today, I will be revealing my findings of a recent review I performed on the Samsung LN37B550 37 inch 1080p LCD HDTV. The Samsung LN37B550 is a high-quality LCD HDTV that has caused quite a stir in the LCD market place. It has quickly become one of the best-selling LCD monitors in its viewable size range. Today, Ill be sharing my thoughts and conclusions as to why this particular model is so popular.

Features The Samsung LN37B550 has an abundance of useful features as well as Samsungs Red Touch of Color technology. While the Red Touch of Color does affect or enhance the TVs performance, it emits a very pleasing ambient red light that gives the whole viewing experience a glow of warmth. This LCD TV offers a host of connectivity options and also comes with a game mode; which enables gamers to experience faster refresh and response times when playing fast action games. In addition, the TV uses Samsungs QAM technology for receiving major network programming in from HDTV without an encoder or set-top box.

Performance and Evaluation In every field of evaluation, Samsung LN37B550 excelled. I have got to see some truly rich and genuine colors; blacks are black and whites are pure whites. The quality of images was natural and authentic; The HDTV programming was also very inspiring. The response time is 6ms and the refresh rate is 60Hz, this is definitely not among the fastest available performance models. But, it is also the fact that this difference is hardly noticeable.

Contrast ratios on this unit are excellent, and the game mode does significantly enhance resolution and response when playing fast action games. The remote provides many useful options and worked flawlessly in auto configuring peripheral devices. While some Samsung models have displayed some minor flaws in the sound reproduction and speaker design, this particular TV performed well in all sound tests and does not necessarily require the use of an external audio system. The TV is very solidly constructed; and the TV frame supports the flat monitor screen aptly and securely.

Conclusion Considering the price of the TV, this model is definitely one of the best. This one gets my solid recommendation.

Samsung PN50B550 50 Inch HDTV Plasma Television

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009
by Mike Manster

Introduction I got a chance to review Samsung PN50B550, which is the latest in the range of 50 inches Plasma Television. I wont say that this one is the best Plasma Television Ive ever come across, but this is definitely a good TV. This is TV is high on performance but compared to that, the price is quite low, which makes it perfectly suitable for regular use. It has those rare qualities that can please the regular users as well as the enthusiastic critics of High Definition television.

Features Besides the obviously huge viewing screen, the PN50B550 has all the standard features of any other quality plasma TV, along with a couple of others you should know about. First, is the swivel base; in itself a very simple addition, however, one that you will never get enough of. The swivel base becomes particularly effective when watching the TV during daylight hours, when (as with all plasma TVs) sunlight reflection can cause substantial glare. However, I must say that the glare was substantially less than on many models I have tested.

Another thing about the Samsung PN50B550 is the heat, or lack of it; you may be aware that some plasma TVs get very, very hot. However, Samsung utilizes some Green technology in this TV that allows excellence performance ” without the heat. The heat from some plasma TVs scares me a little; but this Samsung is just fine in that department. The remote-control unit that ships with PN50B550 is feature-rich and quickly adapts to other devices. It has auto code recognition capability and should work with all but the most proprietary DVD players or audio systems.

Performance I literally love the quality of picture. The rich colors look believable as well as vibrant. There are no two opinions on the clarity of color. It can arrest the fastest action pictures perfectly as the refresh rates and response time are amazing. These sort of performances are available in those plasmas whose price is much higher than the PN50B550.

Conclusion The Samsung PN50B550 is an excellent Plasma TV, offering a fantastic blend of performance and price. Suitable for the value conscious or those who simply want a great TV; I am confident that the Samsung PN50B550 50 Plasma Television will make a fine addition to any home.

Samsung LN46B630 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

Saturday, August 22nd, 2009
by Mike Manster

How much we liked the bigger unit of Samsung Family, which is Samsung LN46B650 insets with a 46 inch LCD and color monitor were reviewing today. Hence, we see there are many more matches and dismatches between these particular Samsung unit as well as among the Samsung families. The new version brother Samsung LN46B630 LCD HDTV television as not much good as its older brother.

The LN46B630 and the LN46B650 are probably same identical features. The section of Drive-By shooting Review features the review of Samsung LN46B630 46-inch 1080p plasma HDTV and it supports the 120Hz resolution and refresh rate technology like as the LN46B650 utilizes Samsungs Red Touch of color of technology. This Samsung brother has the same choices of connection, options like internet connectivity via Ethernet and it usually consists with a USB flash drive . In spite of that, the both are very different TVs.

The uses of this matte finished screen 630 version versus the glossy version of available on the 650. Regarding the performance it has slightly low performance between 630 and 650 TV. Rather, it has too much difficult to differentiate between their performances. The contrast ratio of the 630 model is 80,000:1 and consists with a slightly slower time with 4ms.

But as I said, they are two very different TVs; while performance wise there’s not a lot of difference, there are a couple of things to consider. If you watch TV in the dark then the LN46B650 model is clearly superior; however, if you’re a big daytime soap opera fan or use the TV in a room with sunlight, then this one is a much better choice for you. Simply put, a Matte finish LCD looks much better in a room direct sunlight, and vice versa. The other thing to consider is that this TV cost about $400 less than the 650 version.

If you can afford the extra $400 for the 650 version, or you’re a daytime TV fan, then the LN6B630 is the perfect TV for you. In fact, the more I think about the price difference — the better this TV looks. But either way, both are truly excellent.

Samsung LN32B460

Friday, August 21st, 2009
by Mike Manster

Introduction

Recently one of my friends who run a retail electronics website asked me to review Samsungs LN32B460 model. His website sells that product and hence he want to review it. I agreed to do the needful and he arranged a show up of the product at my office. Here is what I got about this 32 wonder.

The Good

It didnt take much of a time for me to realize that this TV has got great potential and why it is selling like a hot cake. The connection aspects for instance, are tremendous; the device comes with 2 Component Video connections, 3 HDMI ports and a PC port connection. I was really amazed to see such features in an LCD television that costs less than $600.

The performance of the TV is definitely above average with a 50,000:1 contrast ratio and a response time of 6ms. What amazed me even more is that there is no blur or ghosting while watching fast action movies or playing games of PS3 and Xbox (yes, I couldn’t resist myself playing games on it). Outstandingly lively colors and the richness factor just mesmerized me; clean display qualities of display of shades like white, black and grey are amazing.

Sound quality was exceptional; and you shouldn’t need to use an external audio system; unless, you just like it really CRUNK-UP! The remote is really nice and durable; and picked up all peripherals and configured them easily.

The quality of picture is definitely the best feature of the device ” I liked it very much. The quality of picture is awesome- mind blowing. This TV comes with 720p technology and it is absolutely fine as with a 32 TV, 1080p technology hardly makes any difference. In fact, according to me, LN32B460 scores much above than several other TVs with 1080p technology.

The Bad

Not much, actually. I would have liked to have seen USB or Picture In Picture functionality; but at the price, I suppose you cant ask for everything. Besides that, I have no other complaints

The Ugly

Nothing at all! Yes, other televisions in this range might feel shy.

Samsung PN42B450

Friday, August 21st, 2009
by Mike Manster

Introduction 42 inch Samsung PN42B450 is generating huge interest among the plasma TV enthusiasts; major online retailers are making good business by selling this unit and hence I am here to shoot my review on this. Read this review to get the clear idea about the unit.

The Good What impresses me most about Samsung is that they utilize the maximum potential of the technology of 720p resolution instead of adding to the expenses of the users by using 1080p resolution unnecessarily. Yes, the 42 inch Samsung PN42B450 is another 720p excellent Plasma TV. In fact, in terms of picture quality, this one is the best 42 inch plasma TV I have come across so far. According to me, 1080p resolution is of no use if the TV size is less than 50 inches.

Samsung PN42B450 really impressed me with its amazing picture quality, richness and vibrant colors. In fact the resolution and contrast are amazing; if you love watching hi-fi action flicks or gaming, then you are surely going to love this as there are no image blurring or ghosting whatsoever. Like any other plasma TVs, there is perfect display of white, black and gray shades.

Whatever your peripheral device requirement is, the TV comes with ports for proper connectivity. There is PC and USB port that allows direct viewing of videos and images from your PC. Even the quality of sound is immaculate and the design and durability of the remote control is perfect. The remote is quick to respond to recognize and configure almost any outer peripheral.

The bad It is hard to find negative aspect about the TV. But, it generates quite a lot of heat, again it a Plasma TV high heat is a common aspect. The weight of this TV is huge and hence it needs proper care; wall mounting is best suited option. Like any other plasma TV, electricity consumption is high.

The ugly Perhaps, the worst thing would be my extreme bad feeling that I am not a owner of Samsung PN42B450.
